Realistic individuals are active and stable and enjoy hands-on or manual activities, such as building, mechanics, machinery operation and athletics. They prefer to work with things rather than ideas and people.
Holland codes is a simpler way for any assessment taker to
understand the type of professions they can pursue assuming their
interest levels remain the same.
This is again contrary to the world we live in. No single career
or job is permanent.
Technology has accelerated change and many older professions are
becoming redundant or getting automated leading to reduced human
involvement.
The HOLLAND codes (RIASEC) are an easier way of categorizing people based on their interests
and how they approach
life situations.
It is one of the most useful instruments for career exploration and selection.
The underlying assumption is that careers or vocations that are chosen based on individual interests
are
likely to be longer lasting and more satisfying than any other construct.
Each individual is provided with a 3 letter code (out of 6) indicating their type as well as a list
of occupations/careers that match their specific interests.
